For years, many customers have raved about our low prices for our
storage buildings. Lately, we have noticed a growing amount of customers wanting to shop around for the best available price. A recent customer, who had just finished a substantial amount of bargain hunting, revealed to us that we have some of the lowest prices around. He even mentioned, It's more expensive to buy a DIY(Do-It-Yourself) Wood Shed from Lowe's than buy a barn from Byrd's. We found this hard to believe since Lowe's is such a large company and usually offer competitive prices. So the research began... |

The feature Wood Storage Building line, Heartland, is the DIY Country Manor Series. They are substantial buildings that are built, by the customer, using 2x4s and other parts and pieces similar to our own. Two of our more popular sizes, 12'x24' and 12'x16', are priced, at Lowes.com, at $4,0491 and $4,1991 respectively. Our prices for those storage buildings are set at $3,168 for the 12'x24' and $2,112 for the 12'x16'.

The top selling Wood Storage Building line, HomePlace, is a DIY adventure that comes in various sizes and options. Their more popular sizes are 12'x20'(with a floor) and 14'x24'(without a floor). The prices for these buildings are $5,3651 and $6,4391 respectively. We are able to offer customers $2,640 for a 12'x20' and $3,689 for a 14'x24', both of which include a floor and assembly. |

A strong competitor located in Garner, Carolina Yard Barns will usually travel to the customer's site to build their Storage Buildings. I'm willing to bet many potential customers will travel to both our lots before making a purchase decision; therefore it is very important to know the differences in the prices. According to their website, their most popular and economical line of buildings is called "The Statesman". The Statesman would be the easiest to compare to our own buildings; however when we compared the prices it favored us by an average of approximately $9201. |

Our closest competitor, only about 15 miles from BW, is located between Clayton and Garner. They offer a wide range of products and services, including building utility sheds, gazebos, garages, and moving storage buildings. Aside from gazebos, their product depth is very similar to our own. Upon visiting their website you will notice they fail to display the prices of almost all of these products. They ask you call and request a complimentary catalog to learn of their prices (This holds true as they even sent one to me). Since Cardinal Buildings' A-Roof Shed varies in front/back and side wall heights I can only fairly compare their 12'x12', 12'x16', and 12'x20' size A-Roofs to our own (Also very popular sizes with our customers). There are obviously other sizes built and sold by both companies but these are the easiest and most appropriate to compare (Just note and compare wall sizes if you wish to investigate further). Notice the chart below for comparisons. |

A recently discovered competitor, NC Sheds is also located in Clayton on Allen Rd (off of Cleveland Rd). They provide custom, on-site, built storage buildings. NC Sheds offer a lineup of buildings that include the typical A-roof or shed style, a Dutch or barn style that includes a loft, and a high-end livable confinement. Their informative website includes sizes, prices, and accessories for all of their buildings. I have included below two comparative tables that display prices of our most comparable buildings. The first includes information on their "Yard Shed" vs. our A-roof style. |

The second table includes information on their "Yard Barn" style against the Byrd's Wholesale Dutch style. Byrd's Wholesale will charge an additional 10% to the base price of a Dutch building if it has a loft included. Therefore the prices below reflect a 10% increase of our own prices to fairly compare against the "Yard Barn" style (that includes a loft) of NC Sheds. |

Moore's Storage Buildings |
Our strongest competitor, Moores Storage Buildings, is located in Erwin, NC (In Harnett County, off of Hwy 421). They offer two grades of wood buildings, Shop Grade and High Grade, and a vinyl building line. The Shop Grade offers most of the same specifications offered in our wood buildings, specifically the floor, walls, and roof measurements. The High Grade is made up of thicker and more treated material, which is also 10-15% more expensive than the Shop Grade. We feel this extra material is wasteful unless you are planning on storing extremely heavy materials. The extra wood treatment on the High Grade can also be unnecessary if you have any plans of painting the storage building to match anything else. I was able to collect their pricing information very recently and I will compare their Shop Grade prices against our own wood buildings. Below are charts that compare both the A-frame and the Dutch (or Barn) structures of both companies. |

I ask that you, as a potential customer, use this information as unbiased facts but I also suggest researching on your own to check behind my work. Sometimes companies offer seasonal deals that might interest certain customers depending on the product. Another note is that when I reported my results for Lowes and The Home Depot I did not compare our products to their smaller DIY Storage Buildings. My reasoning is that these structures are held up by smaller 2'x3' boards that can't be compared to 2'x4' board structures. The prices may be cheaper for such storage buildings but it would be unfair to every stakeholder involved to compare apples and oranges. |
