Corporate Citizenship
Being a small, family business we feel very fortunate and blessed by the success of our company. This result is not only from our hard work and efforts but also from an extremely supportive community. With such strong community support we felt it was only natural to give back. Below are a few of the ways Byrd's Wholesale has invested, and will continue to, in the community.
Sharon Baptist Church, Smithfield, NC
Our Church
As members of Sharon Baptist, we truly love being able to give back not only as members of the community but also as members of the body of Christ. At Sharon Baptist, a free, weekly meal is provided to any and every person who comes to the fellowship hall hungry1. Byrd's Wholesale is very involved in the purchase and preparation of this meal each week. Sharon Baptist also has a food closet to provide families in need with enough food to feed a family of four for one week. We also happily contribute to this cause by purchasing the beans, rice and can goods that help make up a family's weekly food package.

Spaghetti Youth Fundraiser
Each spring, the youth group of Sharon Baptist play host to a spaghetti fundraiser to help provide financial support for their summer mission trip and their trip to Camp Caswell. For years now we have been providing the food for this event but the real providers are the people who provide the cakes and sweets for desserts, something Byrd's Wholesale could only dream of providing.
BBQ & Chicken Fundraiser
Each Fall, Byrd's Wholesale helps sponsor a BBQ & Chicken fundraiser for various efforts of the Church. This year the even will help raise funds for a new church shuttle bus to help transport members to events.
Campus Crusade for Christ, NCSU Chapter
Shack-a-thon
Each fall the NCSU brickyard fills up with students but for one week, Shack-a-thon Week, they are joined by "shacks". These shacks are not only there to raise awareness that there are people who do not have a home of their own but also to raise money for the NCSU Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Student clubs at NCSU must build a shack, reside in such shack, and "beg" for money throughout the week. The experience can be humbling and rewarding for all parties involved. Byrd's Wholesale has been proud to supply Campus Crusade for Christ, a Christian group on campus built to share the Gospel with students, all the wood they need to build a shack. We started this relationship a few years ago and have no problem supplying this wood indefinitely.
Supporting the Staff
Being a big fan of this ministry, we also support a couple of individuals who help make it such a well-built and capable organization. People on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ are funded solely by individuals, families, and companies who share their vision of reaching students here in the U.S. and abroad. A link to more information and/or how you can help support them is listed below.

Team Byrd's Wholesale
Off to the races..
Some companies will always default to merely giving money to a cause or foundation. This is mainly because it is quick, easy, and can be helpful in tax savings. At Byrd's Wholesale, we strive to find other ways to give and show support to charitable causes and foundations. One of these creative, yet simple, outlets has been through running/walking. Our small team of racers have begun representing Byrd's Wholesale in many of the popular, charitable road races in the Triangle Area. The races and their respective charities are listed below.
1If you know of anyone who would like to join us for this meal, either helping or someone who is hungry, please let them know we start serving at 5:30pm, on Wednesdays, in the fellowship hall of Sharon Baptist Church in Smithfield, NC. We welcome all and hope to serve each and everyone. More information can be found through the SBC link.
